Re: [Mellotronists] Roland vs M400

Wow, delightful description, Jon!

The M-VS1 is a 1U rack mount, fairly small. Basically it's a power supply
and output stage around the contents of the "Keyboards of the 60's/70's" (I
think!) JV-series card. I don't know if the card works in the JD. In the
M-VS1 there are NRPNS/RPNS that you may be able to coax into doing
something, but I haven't gone there, as I'm out of my depth with MIDI as
soon as we get beyond talking about channels and ports (I'm just happy when
sounds come out when I want them to).

I gave that up a long time ago. I've already achieved perfection. It's
boring. So now I screw up on purpose.

I vamped for a while the other night on the EMI (some rollers have issues
and it has a weak motor), running through an old Korg DRV-3000 (a very
dirty digital reverb). Crappy playing, crappy reverb, keyboard that needs
work...still was a delight, at least to me. There's definitely something
about these machines. But we knew that. :-)

Please do.

M400 #1037 - [needs motor]
