Acute Mellotronosis, or aural mellotronic dysphoria, first occured in the London area some 40 years ago, and symptoms are similar to an outbreak of chamberlinia which was traced to a garage in southern California a few years prior. AMD quickly spread throughout the planet...borne by word of mouth, radio airplay, music distributors, performing bands, and even certain record labels. Symptoms include trancing and obsessive loss of cerebral focusing induced primarily by acknowledged secondary instrumental prerecorded musical sounds picked up by the victim's auditory receptors. More serious afflictions can be diagnosed by a noticeable change in music purchasing and concert-going habits, the desire to purchase the units responsible for the affliction, and merging with likeminded social groups. Psychologists over the years have agreed, however, that this condition is not life-threatening, and in fact more often than not, considered therapeutic...so long as the patient does not prioritize this unsatiable quest over more important responsibilities.
