Am I the only one to get this impression? not to be a prick, but the ORIGINAL was 1954 and had no raymond burr - that was the "americanized" version created by the US distributor... i have the ORIGINAL on a japanese laserdisc and it's a very atmospheric film. very very different vibe from the US version - far darker and gloomier. [it's "gojira" in japanese]. did you know godzilla's "roar" was actually a sound made by a cello? and yes - the soundtrack [by akira ifukube] is brilliant... eerie... some of the best use of strings [aside from possibly bernard herrmann] ever in a film. IMHO of course... send me a blank VHS tape and i'll make you a copy of it. i am sure you will feel the same way i do. ...jeff
