Re: [Mellotronists] Is there anyone out there?

2004-09-25 by J.K.Beresford

It would be nice to include some not famous guys if there are any
to be found who played the MKII/M300 as it was meant to be
played ie in a pub/club or at home (ie someone who used the
rhythms and fills). Does anyone know of any pub/club musicians
who specialised in the mellotron? It would be nice to hear of
ordinary punters reactions on hearing a MkII in full flight in the
dance hall. I came across someone once but I'm not sure if I still
have his contact details. Surely there were "test-pilots" and
demonstrators at Mellotronics - but can any still be found?

Well..........

There is a new book in the planning that will attempt to clearly and
concisely define the impact of the Mellotron on music from the
arrival of the MKI to the present day. This book is being thoroughly
researched and written, not just compiled from available information
and stolen web pages.

So which characters from the past 41 years would you like to see
interviewed to add depth and insight to the project? Remember,
this is going to be THE mellotron book and it has to cover all
aspects. Answers on $50 bills please.

Best,

Martin
