Good eye, Jerry. Upon closer examination, it appears to be a small  
semi-fossilized baby crocodile skull, of the kind usually found in older  Mellotrons.  
I'm surprised to see on in a Mellotron located in Ohio, which  leads me to 
believe that this one might have originally been housed farther  south.
