Peterson Mk. V

2005-10-31 by fizzyal

Concerning the Mellotron I've had for a number years - originally
owned by Oscar Peterson, passing through Hugh Syme (session keys -
Rush) - I finally unpacked the beast and retrieved the serial
number, etc. for those that are interested:

ID plate reads:

MELLOTRON Mk. FIVE
SN : 5/106A
35 Portland Place
London W1N 3AG England

There are two tape frames in the instrument and I have three others
in their original cases (5 frames total). The labels on the cases
and frames don't quite match up suggesting that there may have been
6 frames originally. Anyway, I'll list the content/dates - might be
useful clue as to when and on what Oscar Peterson used his Mellotron:

Ref:D53 Date 9.4.75
Trk A: 1-10 MOOG; 11-23 Tympani Hit; 24-34 Tympani Roll
Trk B: Bassoon
Trk C: Vibes with Vibratto

Ref:D53 Date 9.4.75
Trk A: Boys Choir
Trk B: 8 Choir
Trk C: Male Choir

Ref:D53 Date 9.4.75
Trk A: Violins
Trk B: Viola
Trk C: Cello

Ref:D53 Date 9.4.75

Trk B: French Horn
Trk C: Trombone

Ref:F77 Date 25.3.76

Trk C: S/FX
(probably best bet for Halloween!)

Ref:F77 Date 25.3.76
Trk A: Electric Guitar
Trk B: Accoustic Guitar
Trk C: Church Organ
(this frame is missing from the collection)

Cheers,

Al
