Keyboard assembly

Keyboard assembly

2007-04-23 by john barrick

Hi all,
in the process of cleaning up my keyboard and pinch rollers, I've
noticed that on some of the keys, both screws that hold the pinch roller
assembly to the underside of the key have washers placed on them, while
on other keys, only the screw nearest the pinch roller has a washer on
it. Should all the screws used to attach the pinch roller have washers?

Thanks,

john

PS - I've also lost some of the felt that cushions the adjustment screws
for pinch roller and pressure pad tension. Can I use any kind of felt
to replace this or does it have to be something special? If so, what
should I get?

Hi John, Do not know the reason but from the pictures I've seen
on other units there were only washers on select keys, not all, as
were mine, as long as you replace them as they were you will be
fine.
As for felt, if it was just strips that fell off and the felt is
still acceptable you can refasten them, I would recommend 3M trim
adhesivethat you can get at WalMart or any auto store, it does come
in a small tube and the advantage over contact cement or anything
similar is this will not harden completely so if you ever have to
replace them it is fairly easy. If you need new felt, any art and
craft or good hobby store should carry it, as should a fabric store
if you can still find one. Hope that helps....Doug
