Does the Tach Head need to be degaussed?

Re: spill box brackets, I just put bottom brackets on 1407.  Before 
this, the side boards were solid, but afterwards, they're rock solid - I 
can't get them to flex at all.  I feel secure now...

Yes, but only with a cheesy Radio Shack  demagnetizer.
