OK, so what am I missing?

OK, so what am I missing?

2007-07-16 by Bernie

Having been a member of this group for a few years now, I've collected several albums (CDs to some) that were produced by various members of this group. Following is my list so far, assuming I haven't misplaced anything that I haven't accounted for. There's a lot of, in my opinion, really good music here that I would never have known about as a non-member. If there's this much good stuff, there must be more that so far is unknown to me. Suggestions?

Another Day In Paradise Lee Richards

Beyond The Galaxy Cosmic Hoffmann

Heaven and Earth ; Char-El

Improvised Waves Ken Leonard, Jimmy Moore, Brad Schuman

Ken Leonard Archives 88 - 02 Ken Leonard

Rime of the Ancient Sampler Various

Sounds For Imaginary Movies Systems Theory

Technostalgia Sundae Club

The Feeling of Far ; Fritz Doddy

Worlds Without End Char-El

I enjoyed Gordon Reid's "Aliens":
http://www.gordonreid.co.uk/catalogue/aliens/aliens.html

Chip G. was out here (may still be):
http://www.kleonard.com/music/reviews/lift.htm

I *think* Shannon lurks (not sure):
http://www.kleonard.com/music/reviews/shannon_taylor.htm

And---oh yeahhhh---Duncan (with Steve and Gary):
http://www.rmi.dircon.co.uk/

RMI (Radio Massacre International) have been using their Mellotron
(the "Stickertron") for years on largely electronic
recordings. They're rather prolific and have done tons of
albums. If you would like to try them out, see the page for The
Gatherings gig:
http://www.kleonard.com/music/concerts/rmi040508.htm

There's a section in that write-up about where to start with these guys.

RMI will be in Philly again in November, btw, but I am not sure what
style of music they will be playing. They have been trying to add
drums and move away from electronic a bit.

Re: OK, so what am I missing?

2007-07-17 by Bernie

Well, I was finally able to scrounge up just enough pennies from under
the sofa cushions. So I clicked on the link, installed iTunes, and spent
the next 45 minutes trying to undo the damage iTunes caused my computer.
Finally had to uninstall it. I'll try again with my laptop tonight.

What format is the file? If I can get iTunes installed successfully and
get your EP downloaded, I may need to convert it to another format
that's useable with other players so I can uninstall iTunes from my
laptop. It's a miserable resource hog.

Thanks,

Bernie

Mattias also produced Deadwood Forest, whose Mitch Mignano used to be
on the list. (Others that used to be (?) on the list included Brian
Kehew (Moog Cookbook), Nick Magnus (solo albums & Hackett) and Stan
Cotey (Giraffe))

The list owner Don Tillman's band Tesseract. www.till.com/tesseract

My own band, Metaphor, has a new album (our 3rd) due out in about one
month. www.metaphor.org

Thanks to everyone for your replies. I'm adding everything so far to a spreadsheet for future investment. Never realized there was so much talent here.

well, i guess i can mention i played mellotron on a track from this album:

http://www.progreviews.com/reviews/display.php?rev=geg-pp

...yet it hurts to recall, i never did get paid for the session :(

i also produced an album a few years ago, but it's no longer available:
http://cdbaby.com/cd/lovesyn3

had a falling out with the singer/songwriter a few months after the cd
was completed, so i don't get mentioned - only my friend phil that mixed
and mastered it for us. there is no mellotron [or any keyboards at all]
on the record.

iTunes sells its music as 'digitally-rights-managed'(DRM) AAC-codec
files (.m4a)

Bernie, come now, if you can work a mellotron, you can work iTunes!
Or alternatively, get a child to do it for you... :)

Although not on CD (so far), there's a couple of my 'tron outings on
this MySpace page of a friend I sometimes collaborate with:

http://www.myspace.com/veroniqueacoustique

The tracks to look for: 'See You Smile' (cover of a Kevin Coyne song),
and another with a long name that starts with 'r2d2...' (probably best
described as 'psychedelic noise').

I'm working on other stuff of my own at the moment, aiming to put a CD
together in the next few months, and shall also be starting a MySpace
or eSnips (or similar) page with some selected highlights. I'll let
you know more when I have more done :) .....

Bernie,
Been a while since I posted, but funny you should
mention....
There are two projects I've been working on for quite
some time. They are to be made available within the
next few weeks (one of them is being mastered
tomorrow).
The first of which is a band I was in some 7
years back called Planet Mosquito. After much label
difficulty, the last two albums of a three- record
contract were left hanging. Finally they'll be out
and pretty much everywhere.
The same goes for a recent thing by the
gratuitous name of Nefarious Jack & The Naysayers.
Much mellotron on all. I'll send links in a week
or so.
Cheers!
