Since real Mellotrons have certain characters that seem to not reporduce
exactly when digitally sampled, perhaps analyzing how the pre-amp affects the
sound, as well as key pressure, and making an algorithm that can be applied to a
hardware or software sampler version of the Mellotron so it can reproduce the
nuances of an actual Mellotron. Does this sound complicated or make some sort
of sense?

Actually that sounds kind of perverse and dangerous, Bill. Don't do it.
