Mike Pinder CD For SoftSamplers

Mike Pinder CD For SoftSamplers

2007-10-04 by bayofkings7

Sorry if this was covered before - Can I use the Mike Pinder CD in a
SoftSampler? I use NI's KOMPAKT (note - not Kontakt), and am assuming
I can play the CD. I sent an e-mail to the sellers, but have not heard
from them. I would like to be sure before I buy it.

Thanks!

Tom

if i am reading it right, 'kompakt' is its own format.
you would need a translation utility to translate the
cdrom [which is in akai format] to that format. there
is a program called "cdxtract" that will read and
convert akai cdroms [and many other formats] to the
native instrument "kontakt" format [and many other
formats], but it does not mention "kompakt".
it's available here:

http://www.cdxtract.com/cdxtract2.php

i use the pinder cdrom in my ensoniq asr-10 and it
works without any problems at all, loding each
sound with all parameters intact [or is that "intakt"
in 'native instruemnts speak'?]

"kompakt" appears to be a dedicated player for each
library that includes it - does not seem to be able
to be used as a standalone software sampler the way
that "kontakt" can/is.

Thanks, Jeff. I think I can use it as KOMPAKT reads AKAI 1000/3000
samples.

Actually, KOMPAKT is/was (NI doesn't market it anymore) a
standalone/plug-in sampler, much like a poor man's Kontakt. I bought
it and INTAKT separately, and the two pretty much make-up one Kontakt
(almost). KOMPAKT strictly samples, and INTAKT time/pitch-stretches
and syncs.

Thanks!

Tom

PS - Nice intact/INTAKT reference.

I used the Pinder Cd in Kontakt but had to bring in
each sample and format it separately. It was worth it
though. Hey wait a second -you are Tom Kittel!
