21st century schizoid band

21st century schizoid band

2002-08-25 by kinchmusic@aol.com

As we reach the beginning of September, I look forward with both excitement
and foreboding to seeing these original members of King Crimson in concert in
Milton Keynes on the 15th. The reason? The classic early tracks mean so much
to me I couldn't stand the thought that they might not sound so good now,
especially without 2 important ingredients. I/A certain Robert Fripp will be
missing. 2/A certain tape playback machine loved by all on this list will be
nowhere to be seen according to MS. Imagine TCOTCK or Epitaph or ITWOP with
no tron...mmm. I know samplers are pretty good nowadays, and some would a say
a little more reliable, but please!!!
The absence of RF is a different matter. Is KC without RF just a glorified
tribute band? One addition to the line up that is potentially very exciting
is the addition of JJ from The Art of Noise. I worked with him back in the
80's and his Fairlight programming was very inventive. If ever the expression
"Keyboards and devices" fitted someone's abilities then JJ should be worth
listening to!
I understand they were playing in Canterbury this weekend. Did anyone go? Is
anyone else on the list going to MK?
I'll go back to sleep now....................

...And what is your TCOTCK or Epitaph without 3/ Greg Lake? An important
part of the original magic too, though having all 3 items cannot necessarily
bring it back.
