Mellotronists

The last one on EBay was in LA and sold for $3250 if I recall correctly
(bidding jumped by a thousand dollars at the last minute), and it was
indicated as having Santana provenance.  The New Jersey Mellotron was the
one purported to have King Crimson provenance, but it was pulled out of
bidding with a note sent to those who inquired about it indicating that the
EBay seller felt he had been duped by the person he was supposed to be
acquiring it from.  "MainPsych" on the list might have some further info
regarding the LA "Santana-tron" and its seller.

I know nothing about the buyer.  The seller was the same guy that posted a 
MkII back around September with an opening bid of $12,000.00 (there were no 
takers).  I seem to remember a 400 posted on eBay a while back that had a 
Santana provinence, but don't know if the seller was the same.  I do know 
that the most recent seller of the Santana tron acquired the MkII within the 
last year or so before deciding to divest himself of it, for reason(s) 
unknown.  It might be logical to conclude that he was the buyer of the 
Santana tron during its initial posting and decided to divest himself of that 
as well.  Anyone know any different?
