A fox in the chicken run

I've tried desperately to stay away from the current debate, but I feel it would be useful to offer our American friends, (and I mean the word "friend" sincerely), a glimpse into the British psyche. (Well, mine anyway!) DK is regarded, rightly or wrongly, as the proverbial fox who caught us all this side of the pond unawares, creeping into the chicken run and making off with the goodies. I.E. The Mellotron name and all that entails. Now, I'm sure his intentions were, and still are, to the betterment of the instrument we all love. Whether he has succeeded in producing a new instrument that has used modern technology to enhance, or perhaps even degrade its heritage, is a matter for others to form their own opinions. And it seems to me that these opinions so well entrenched by now, the likelihood of any of the protagonists climbing down and changing heart are unlikely at best. I think the expression "Agreeing to differ" is well suited here. The fact is, we all agree on far more than we differ over. I would urge people to accept other peoples views, after all, the building and marketing of the 'tron was for most of his life the lifeblood of JB's family. And for us Brits, we would not be talking about it today unless the many UK artists and bands over the decades hadn't featured it so heavily. For my part, JB and MS took the battered shell of my EMI machine (which I discovered rotting away unused for many years in a studio in London), and returned it to me 3, maybe 4 times the machine it ever was when it was built in the 70's. And for that, I'm extremely grateful. Regards to all. Andy Kinch E4/1405
