lost in translation?

2003-10-24 by Jeff Coulter

just saw this movie last saturday.
i swear i heard mellotron strings about 10 minutes into the film
as part of the soundtrack [not incidental music].

anybody else see this yet?
anybody hear what i heard?
the speakers in the theatre were not completely blown out - really!

according to the imdb:
Original Music by
Brian Reitzell
Kevin Shields
William Storkson (additional music)

these ring any bells? [brian was in redd kross]
it might be brian reitzel on chamberlin? see:

btw: it's a decent little film.
it does a decent job of capturing what it's like for a gaijin [foreigner]
in tokyo. [been there - done that - it's VERY disorienting]

hmmm... I've met brian- I hired his brother todd to work at mtv in london-
and brian was over in his capacity as drummer for Air. he's good mates with
brian kehew, late of this list, so there's maybe a connection keyboard-wise. not
sure if he'd've played it himself, but it's doubtless not beyond the realms...
after all, the other keyboard player in my band is a drummer too.
kevin shields, of course, was the founder and major force in My Bloody
Valentine. they never did get that third album together. no keyboard interest back
in those days- he did everything he could with guitars and pedals, and quite
astonishing it was too.
