which sound on which track?

which sound on which track?

2003-11-12 by Michael Peters

... sitting here with my 100+ mellotron sounds (not having found an
affordable real tron yet, I bought all M-Tron VST sounds instead,
and am very happy with them) ... I play along with old classics to
learn the tunes ... e.g. Crimson's Starless uses the MkII Vintage
Violins ... big fun! But there are other tunes where I find it
difficult to identify the original sound, and find the appropriate M-
Tron patch for it ... maybe it hasn't be M-Tron'd yet then. Are
there M-Tron users who were successful in finding the correct
sounds? Maybe we could put them all together for future reference.
One example tune for which I found it difficult to identify the
strings is Genesis' song Can Utility and the Coastliners.

Here's a start for a list:

King Crimson: Starless (MkIIVintViolins)
King Crimson: In the Wake of Poseidon (MkII_Violins)

'Starless' was actually recorded on an M400! The violins on 'Can-Utility'
are standard Mark II.

available somewhere.
