On this subject, I heard Tony Banks used to be a miserable sod, or still is. Any experiences ?

I met with(and actually attended a band party)Tony on the SELLING
ENGLAND USA tour in Cleveland OH and we spoke over a few brews about
the Mark 2 and M400.He was with his lady/wife and quite polite and
friendly...Steve Hackett and Phil Collins were a riot!! Everyone got
totally sloshed.By the way, they had the next evening off and attended
a King Crimson/Ethos double bill in Akron(I saw them there...Hackett
even said hello)

I recently saw a video (I think it was a feature on a history of Genesis DVD)
of Collins, Banks and Rutherford in a studio setting playing some of the old
"hits". Collins looked and acted like he was "To old to Rock and Roll..." and
wished he were far, far away. Banks seemed to be completely uninspired and
vacant as well. Rutherford was good. He seemed happy to be playing the tunes
again.

Perhaps this kind of (perceived) attitude carries over to the public as
well... sort of a "I'm too good for the material now" kind of feeling. I think when
you're coming up you are grateful for your fan base. When you are on top,
some musicians (and others) think they are to good to be close to the fans. It
isn't until you need the fan base again that some performers resume their
accessibility.

Except maybe Fripp. I long ago decided that he was on the far side of his
creative mountain. He just may not know or accept that.... yet
