John Hawken - Strawbs - Hero & Heroine

John Hawken - Strawbs - Hero & Heroine

2004-02-12 by Pomeroy Ranch

Thanks to this wonderful list (and Dick Greener's wonderful Strawbs list
- http://www.strawbsweb.co.uk <http://www.strawbsweb.co.uk/> ), I
decided to ask John Hawken about the tron sounds he used on Hero and
Heroine. Here is his answer:

>Thanks for the e.mail - glad you've enjoyed some of the music I've been
involved with down the
>years.

>Lucky you, located in "Mellotron Heaven" on the West Coast - I STILL
regret parting with my 400
>(and my Mini Moog) when I left England in 1979.

>As for the sound on Hero & Heroine, I only recall using the Brass
tapes, no organ. Of course, my
>memory could well be at fault - after all, it WAS 30 years ago.

>I have just today received the Mike Pinder Mellotron CD ROM - a gift
from my friend & webmaster
>Ron Linderboom. I will be using it on the proposed Strawbs re-union
tour later this year. Hopefully,
>we shall experience all the great sounds but none of the quirky
reliability of the real thing.

>Best regards
>John Hawken

What brass tapes/sounds would he have used?
