Mellotron CM-CIO

2004-03-20 by Ignacio Nieto Carvajal

Hello:

The other day I was listening to Canarios' "Ciclos" when I saw in the booklet that the keyboardist used "mellotrons 400 and 400 CM-CIO". Does anybody know what a Mellotron CM-CIO is?

Nacho.

Nacho,

What you have there, Nacho my friend, is bad typography. What they
meant to put down was CMC-10, which is the older, more unstable motor
control card. Maybe they put it on the recording credits to excuse the
fact that they couldn't keep the darn mellotron in tune! This unit
designation is Canarios' invention, though. Certainly, Streetly would
never have used it to label one of their 400's.
