Pete,

Good for you! Welcome aboard. I hope your Tron gives you all of the pleasure
that those of us who own one (or more) have been brought by ours. We look
forward to having you share your experiences with us so that we can enjoy it with
you. Please tell us more as you come to enjoy owning such a unique machine.

Congratulations!

New Mellotron

2005-09-09 by Mattias

Hey hey everybody,
I had a thought...I was just slightly surprised that Markus news concerning a half a mark II cycling drums and all...with the new Mark VI specs would be something that would cause quite a stir on the list. Everyone wants a Mark II right ?
But it is met with complete silence...or am I not getting all the mails ?
A non translated dutch review of Fritzs album gets more feedback than a new version of the Mellotron. Not to mention the Memotron...
Or maybe there are loads of discussions going on beyond the forum thingy.
;
What is the problem...? Is it the old Streetly vs. David Kean crap ?
Not angry or grumpy...just a bit curious...

Your getting the mail alright. It's been quiet regarding our new machine
but we've managed to sell the initial production run in complete and utter
silence.

Mattias,
I, for one, am thrilled. It seems that there are parallel developments with both Markus and Streetly in this area. I think most of us are waiting for more information before we start chatting excitedly. We've seen the Memotron photos and have heard the samples. No photos, information or pricing has been released on these new Trons.

Yes....as usual, I got a SLEW of email from listers
and former listers about this news. Sad, the one guy
that continually cranks out these beautiful
instruments/parts and new ideas just isn't quite the
brew drinking, quick witted mate to fit the social
requirements of this list. Maybe it's time for a new
list, with more new faces, more real information, more
results and less prejudice. We've effectively divorced
ourselves from a mountain of information from Brian
Kehew, Gary Halhbeck, Steve Frothingham, Kean, Jim
Blair, Paul Gogo, Terry Kelley and dozens of others
because we just can't stop admiring the emperors new
clothes.

Hi Mark,

Maybe it's time for a new
list, with more new faces, more real information, more
results and less prejudice.

From our standpoint, we have always given out information, assistance and
answered queries readily and without hesitation. Just what do you want from
this list Mark? You have proven yourself to be as prejudiced as anyone,
especially against us. We don't particularly care but how can you call for a new
list that is cleaner than clean when you yourself have displayed exactly the
traits you now criticise?

MY predudice? Really? The pot shots that you have
taken at MA over the years is astounding! As for my
part, I have simply stood up for the fine
contributions that Markus and Dave have made to this
field at any given opportunity because I think people
need to know about it. Their instruments are
incredible and it is TRULY amazing to me that when
streetly release a press release about an upcoming
press release about an upcoming product, there's a
roar of "hurrays" from the party faithful on this
list. Markus announces that he has been quietly
working on a major new instrument design and it's met
with ZERO from most of the list. Why? Because they
don't want to rock the boat. PHOOEY on that.

And speaking of real information; just how many NEW
instruments have you sold Martin? Is there a photo
that WE can see? Is there ANY information about it's
specs? Weight? Motor type? Keyboard manufacture? Is
there, indeed, a new long promised pinch roller
available at last? A "bespoke" Skellotron that sells
for insane amounts of money does not a "production"
make.

When the time is right we'll tell all. Not until. The people who have
ordered know what they are getting, that's all that matters right now. The
'Skellotron' is insane and expensive as are any one off creations in this world
and we make no apologies. And it has nothing to do with regular production
whatsoever.

Personally I think Streetly are worth having for the

Dear All,

I have had the pleasure of helping out with some of the electronics on the
new instrument and I can assure you that it will be rather special.

I'm sure that John and Martin wiil reveal all when they are ready to do so...

As for all the other stuff flying about - oh no not again.
