Greetings Everyone,

I've been a Vangelis fan since 1972 upon hearing "666" and "Earth"
played by my fav. NYC prog-rock FM station. I've listened to
"Apocalypse des Animaux" many times, esp. "Creation Du Monde"
and "La Mer Recommencee" , imagining Mellotron-ish sounds embedded.

The band "Jade Warrior" of the 70's made some fantastic sounds with
their looped and tracked flutes. "Waves" LP is a fine example of
another
Mellotron-ish work .

And ambient musician Brian Eno and Robert Fripp (sounds familiar, huh?)
also used many tape loops w/o a Mellotron in sight on their solo and
colaborative efforts. Incl. Laraaji with his electrified zither, which
still
takes the mind on a sonic journey today.

Admitted, we all LOVE Trons (and hate 'em simultaneously when they're
naughty), but some innovative composers somehow manage to do w/o 'em.

Cheers, Jerry Korb (w. electrified razor and combo
lawn-mower/tape-cutter)
