September re-re-re-release

September re-re-re-release

2004-05-25 by ceccles_ca

The first seven Moody Blues discs will be re-re-re-released on hybrid
SACD(one layer remastered stereo, one layer 5.1 surround), playable
on all CD players.

Each one will be a two disc set, with the second disc containing
outtakes, live, and rare stuff. Interestingly, the surround is being
mastered from tapes which were mixed for quadraphonic in 1972 by Tony
Clarke!

How many times can you buy the same album? Hybrid SACD's are great,
since you can get top quality stereo as well.

It's about halfway down the web page.

More on the re-re-re-release of the MB-7:
Additional material:
- unreleased BBC sessions
- a December 1969 concert recording
- many 'work in progress' mixes and alternate final mixes
- three previously unreleased songs

Sadly ironic : The original multi-track recordings for "In Search of
the Lost Chord" have been.......LOST. So it cannot be remastered
like the others. It also appears that the original multi-track
recordings of ISOTLC were lost before 1972. (No quad mix either).

How would you loose something like that?

Sad to hear... that's my fave moodies' album. :(

Nacho.

What I really don't understand is this:

How could Tony Clarke remix The Actor, Legend Of A Mind and Ride My See Saw
in 1974 for This Is The Moody Blues if the multi-tracks weren't available?

This is very sad to me too, as ISOTLC is also my favorite and ever since the
advent of 5.1 surround sound I've dreamed of hearing the album in that
format.
