Greeetings Everyone,

Now that the American July-4th holiday weekend
is over, I'd like to share with you all more things
happening with "MONEYPIT" and events Mellotronic.

The "official" highlights/photos will be forthcoming on yet
another excellent Ken Leonard Website.
MONEYPIT has served as a rallying-point for
Mellotron enthusiasts/owners in New England since 1998
and now elsewhere. Some work, some music,
and plenty of comraderie/food/drink is our version
of antique car meets, or historical society BBQ's, etc.

MONEYPIT happily complements the Mellotron Workshops
held in Toronto and Philly in years 2000-2001.
Our hopes/wishes are to have JB/Martinge to again
grace our shores and darken our towels for a weekend
of cheerful insanity / kindred-spirits. How about it guys ??

That said, from July 1-5, arriving and departing at
different times, attendees were :

Jerry and Mali Korb (Host/Hostess in Vermont )
Ken Leonard (one charter member of MONEYPIT)
Jimmy/Nancy/Anna Moore from Glen Mills,PA.
     ......the Streetly East Coast Representative.......

AND.... "secret" guest , Pierre Veilleux of Montreal,
after a three-year absence. He's baaaaack !

Highlights of the weekend :

22 feet of Linear Tron ( same as in March, but someone erred)
SFX #6 , an early unit with different layout from later SFX Trons.
for some R&R and facelift......Property of Jimmy Moore.
M400/725 , the orig Mellotron used by Larry "Synergy" Fast
of Morris Cty. NJ on his first 1975 LP, for some R&R .
Mountain views,tours of Green Mtns, Ben/Jerry's ice-cream
factory, etc. Incl. the Mongolian Grille, a Moneypit eatery.
Weekend BBQ with plenty of eats/suds, capped with
fireworks . And an overwhelming desire to create a Mellotron
"bottle-rocket ", as tribute to Rick Wakeman.
Some work/service on M400/1037 tapeframe of Ken L.
Music galore, courtesy of Pierre's awesome talent on
   Mark-I/124 , JKMK6, the "Synertron" and more.....
.....And of course, quality time/conversation among friends
and family . Was great to see the Moores and Pierre after a
   three-year gap.

....More to come, gang. Write-in to the list and share your holiday
gatherings and events. Have a wonderful week ahead !

-- Jerry Korb and extended family.....

I think that for the next MONEYPIT group effort, we should put together a
band, where anyone can sit in and jam. You know, including drums, guitar, bass
and (heaven forbid) vocals. Maybe a synth or Hammond thrown in. No more than
2 Mellotrons (we wouldn't want to overdo it). If Pierre comes, that's Pierre
and one other Mellotronist ;-). Sorry, but I have a strong desire to hear /
jam in a band with a real Mellotron, after just viewing the Moodies 1970 "Lost
Performance". You know, it could have been so good if they just would have
brought their gear to that show. I saw them live in 1971, I know they can do
it.

It was an enjoyable weekend in VT with Jerry/Mali (thank you guys!!!), and
it was good to see Jimmy and family. Pierre's appearance was most welcome.

I also have to thank Larry Fast for the use of his machine so I could
thread my tapes. :-) #1037's tape frame was cleaned up (the frame
formerly resided in the Mouseotron---blecchhh) and had the "Dreary Set"
threaded---rock guitar, piano, and smooth organ. Very dreary, but it's a
decent enough set. Although Martin claims he can count "on a gnat's pube"
the number of Mark II piano sets he's made over the years. :-)

Outside of attempting to rescue 2 pinch rollers and lacing the tape frame,
the most I did over the weekend was make sure the chairs didn't blow away
out on the deck by sitting comfortably on them, accompanied by some good
people and good suds. Oh well---so much for productivity. :-)

M400 #805 - weary
M400 #1037 - dreary

Sounds to me like Matin could use a calculator and a new hobby. Those
English... always coming up with a new way to accomplish a task.
