MK2 sustained chords

2004-08-21 by charel196

Anybody ever try putting the same sound on both sides of a MK2 or MK5
so that when,say...the violins tapes end on one side, you could
switch to the same chord/note on the other side and go back and forth
to hold the notes "indefinitely"?

I once had an ex Manfred Mann 400 which had some woodwind sunds (saxes
I think.... ) that were duplicated from a key-split somewhere in the
middle of the compass. Above the split point the sounds merely
duplicted the notes from an octave lower.

You know, I happen to have Orchestra on both keyboards of my FX
Console, and believe it or not, I haven't ever thought of trying that.
I will and will let you know what I find out about your idea's
feasibility and effectiveness.

Howdee Pardners ! Mike Pinder had identical MK2 lead tapes
on both keyboards of his Pindertrons. He was prob. one of the
first to practice/utilise this technique of alternating the chords before
the
8-seconds ran out.

Didn't Wakeman pull that trick using two M400s?

Imagine trying to synch up two M400s with old motors so that they are
within a quarter tone. Mind you, it couldn't have sounded worse than his
Springotron.

I don't think he had any duplicated sounds on his 400s,Mike
