Mellotronists

Hello....I'm the very happy owner of a newly refurbished Novatron 
thanks to Martin & John from Streetly...(M-1832).  Jimmy Moore 
suggested I join the list...as serendipity would have it, turns out 
we're neighbors...not even 20 miles from each other!  
It REAL nice to know there's a "workshop" happening nearby here in 
the Philadelphia area...I'll probably be bringing my Novatron (STILL 
a "mellotron" by any other name!).  I know of a DJ from our 
local "classic rock" station who seems to have some interest...in 
fact, he wanted to come by and record a few mellotron "snippets" for 
radio use.  Its amazing how few people there are out there that have 
even the slightest clue these machines are getting a tremendous 
revival...I didn't even know until I got inspired to search for one 
after a recent Moody Blues show.  Being a prog-rock nut, I naturally 
got MkII sounds for the two tape frames...MII-Strings/MII-Flute/MII-
Brass...and then MII-Trombone/MII-Smooth organ/8-Choir.

Well, for an introduction, I've probably rambled-on enough.  Will 
look forward to meeting some of you, I'm sure, on the 11th.

i'll make you a copy of my novatron sales brochure and bring
it to the workshop for you.
note: be sure to identify your tape frames well, as there will
be MANY frames there, and we don't want any mixups!

I hope you enjoy being a Tron owner. You are part of a unique group! Jimmy  
is a great guy and has loads of connections in our little world. Let us know  
what you are up to and how you are using your Mellotron. I'm currently using  
mine as a weight bench (just kidding).
 
This coming summer there will be a show in Bethlehem called NEARfest, the  
North East Art Rock festival. You will be able to see a number of great bands

I've lurked here for awhile; just wanted to say "hi!"

I've enjoyed the recent jokes.  I am almost 44, a prog rock fanatic, 
and a life-long guitarist who got into keyboards mainly because I 
wanted to add 'Tron sounds to my songs.  I bought an E-mu Vintage 
Keys when it came out, and am happy with the 'Tron presets.  I 
recently got a Classic Keys expansion ROM for my Kurzweil PC2R, and 
really enjoy the variey of 'Tron sounds it offers.

Although, I'm sure it's nothing like playing the real thing ...
