MONEYPIT Summer 2005

MONEYPIT Summer 2005

2005-10-03 by Ken Leonard

MONEYPIT - Mellotron Owners Needing Excessive Yen for Purchases for
Improving their 'Trons - held *two* get-togethers this summer.

Mellotron Professor Jerry Korb reworked M400 #310 for Dave "Zappaboggs"
Schwartz and M400 #500 for Bernie Kornowicz.

We visited Dave's house in New Jersey for the unveiling of #310, and we had
a lot of fun and a great BBQ---and a special guest.

For #500 it meant a trip to the Mellotron Ranch in Vermont to visit the
Korbs. So...What was under the paint on Bernie's machine? Could it be
stripped and stained, as he wanted---or was it a big let-down?

Nice to meet you Bernie, thanks for the hospitality Dave/Peg and Jerry/Mali!

...kl...
M400 #805 - needs paint
M400 #1037 - stained...with various things...

Ken

Wow! Two amazing restoration jobs, and it looks like fun was had by all. So
when exactly is someone going to organise another international
get-together? Tronto Mk3 or something? I feel a transatlantic trip coming
on...

Popular Mellotron songs....Live

2005-10-04 by DiPaolo Richard

Our group, BandX, plays "Knights in White Satin"
live and it goes over very well. Would like to know
from our live players what other songs they play using
either a Melltron real or sampled goes over really
good with their audience?

I like 'Epitaff' myself.

Really? I like "The Devil's Triangle". It has a good beat and is
easy to dance to.
