Rich, Do you mean Ian McDonald? Streetly has the Ian McDonald Classical Flute, as well as sounds by several other well-known musicians. Personally, I think the Ian McDonald flute is superior to the original. You can sample all the old and new sounds here: http://www.blackcat.demon.co.uk/tron/ Just don't try it in China! Without being silly for a moment, I wondered if the question might refer to Ian Anderson.

>Is there a sampled version of Ian Flemming's flute for >the Mellotron out by anayone? Yes, but it always sounds like a Walther PPK going off for some reason. I'm waiting to hear back from Jimmy on this, but I'm pretty sure the flutes used on "Improvised Waves" are Ian McDonald's. The reason I'm not sure is that they're in the mix now and don't have a ton of high end (they're mellow), so I'm thinkin' I could go either way (I need to hear that high D!!! :-) ). I'm pretty sure we're talking Ian here, though. http://www.kleonard.com/kltunes/improvisedwaves.htm#sound The sample Track 3 has the flute sound Jimmy used (and he did a delightful job of playing on that track). I think there's a little in sample Tracks 2 and 4 as well. Jimmy - are those Ian's for sure? ...kl... I was assuming that one was known already, but that was probably not wise of me.

Dear all, The BBC is going to show a programme with these words from the US president: "I'm driven with a mission from God. God would tell me, 'George, go and fight those terrorists in Afghanistan'. "And I did, and then God would tell me, 'George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq...' And I did. "And now, again, I feel God's words coming to me, 'Go get the Palestinians their state and get the Israelis their security and get peace in the Middle East.' And by God I'm gonna do it." I find this disturbing. Back to the topic.... What settings did Tony Banks use on Watcher of the Skies? Wasn't it contrabass piccolo and spoons? With the rare George "Shouter" McKnee solo vocal tape holding down the bottom end?
BTW, #1145 held up beautifully onstage last night, including during the 'wild pitchbend' ending to one of our 'numbers'.
