I believe that's actually called "trolling," not "browsing."

Which begs another question: why was our Martinge browsing on that site
in the first place?

I was on the Nickel Creek My Space site. I love the band but the
ingratiating remarks of the fans make my flesh crawl.

Gee, sorry. I can't be blamed for that bit of insulting doggerel. I am only responsible for the "trolling" bit of insulting doggerel. You should know by now that I'm crazy about you anyway!

Just think of all the ingratiating remarks you would get if you had a site
there.

Although I also find the site sickening on one level,
it can be a very good way for bands/musicians to get
there stuff out and about. It's free, there are LOTS
of kids drifting around looking for something new to
blast their little ears out with, and there's a pretty
great database of artists available. As a maker of
albums, it's pretty cool to have one more way to sell
songs, albums, and promotions. I mean, there's no
real way to expect anything from a crippled industry.
It's pretty much DIY as of late. If it were purely a
music site, it would be pretty great.
So I guess if it has to be, there's some good to it.
