Anekdoten on YouTube

Anekdoten on YouTube

2006-05-16 by J.P.

Greetings Guys and Gals,
If you haven't been on You Tube lately, here's a good reason to check it out:
These are the two videos featured on the Anekdoten site: www.anekdoten.se
"From Within", and "The War Is Over". I've been able to download "War" from the Anekdoten web-page,- but for the life of me- I can't get "From Within" to play, much less to download... so this may be the only way to see this video... I hope you enjoy it!
This also brings up an interesting question: how many active female mellotronists are out there? Other than Anna Holmgren of Anglagard (which seems to be on hiatus right now), and Anna-Sofi Dahlberg of Anekdoten... I can't think of any other well-known female mellotronists out there! I think "Mellotrongirl" has a 'Tron, but I don't know if she plays professionally, and I'm not including Princess Margaret in this group, as she died a few years ago. Are there any other female 'Tron players, past of present, that anyone can think of (other than non-professional players/hobbyists)?
Just Curious,
J.P.

No, you must change your name to Anna if you're female and want to play mellotron professionally. Little known fact, but you CAN look it up on Wikipedia.

I mean, seriously, can you imagine a mellotron player being named Muffy or Shirley? Margaret was a big, big stretch but her professional mellotron playing was very limited in scope, plus she only got away with it because she was of British royal birth and the Queen passed some sort of law or something.

I've also heard that when Martinge scrapes together enough dosh for that sex change operation, he will be changing his name to Anna to conform to the accepted norms (and I'm not referring to Leete here!).
