As far as I recall, M-400s started at serial # 100.
 
Here is an email I just received on my myspace site.
 
 
"Hey Frank,  

Nice to know there's another Mellotronhead in the Old Dominion. I own a  M400 
s/n 121, which has a pension for playing radio station broadcasts louder  
then it's own tapes. One day I hope to speak with you about a restore of the old  
girl.

So  this would be truly #21 then. That would be the oldest I am aware  of.

I've seen that photo before. Didn't realize it was the same guy. Looks like  
a total piece of crap to me. Hope I get the chance to work on it.

as we log the serial numbers we all know of, does anyone have
the list of serials for the units in tokyo/rest of japan?
a couple on the site have serials listed, but i haven't seen
a list/inventory...


i do speak a little japanese.
shall i try emailing the site owner and inquire?
