Re: [ModularSynthPanels] TR606

2008-01-08 by James Elliott

eh.... 303's are over rated. I have one (well, I have had my friend's in my studio for several months). I do not think they are worth the price they are going for these days (> $1700). I prefer my 777 over the 303. 303's are such a pain in the ass to program. I swear most >good< acid lines from a 303 have to be happy accidents. But before I get flamed, the 303 sounds sweet and nothing does 303 better than a 303 - I readily agree. I just wouldn't pay that much for such a limited device.

Back to the 606. I love my 606! I love my 606! I love my 606! I love my 606! I love my 606! I love my 606! I love my 606! I love my 606! I love my 606! I love my 606! I love my 606! I love my 606! i've only heard samples of the 606, but i really like
them. i think the kick is very punchy, the hats are
clean and smooth, and the snare is fresh and snappy. i
have the clean samples from the "200 drum machines"
collection, and the dirty nasty old hyperreal ones
from 1995. i used the hyperreal snare and one of the
tom sounds to carry my trak "MMMMMM acid pizza".

i'm all for modding stuff, but i wouldn't crack open a
mint 606, i would mod a mediocre one.

i'd like to have one someday. first a 303 so i can be
less of a poser.
