I suspect the reason there aren't more touchplate interfaces is because more people aren't aware of them. I heard someplace that Serge has been going for thirty years almost totally on word of mouth. If that's really the case then you probably have to be pretty interested in synths to know about something like the TKS and it seems that modular is only just gaining in popularity again since the end of the 90's perhaps this is an idea who's time has come? Speaking of great ideas I want more patch programability what happened to the Bananalogue guys, I missed out on them now I want them to come back Slopes For Everyone!!!

The best part of the analog world is you don't need to be a programmer - you can build things! I found a schematic for the the serge one in an old Synapse magazine and the circuit doesn't seem too complicated. I have always wondered why somebody isn't making one already. I would love to have someone else build one. I would buy one for sure. The best design for me would be thinking of it as a combo between a sequencer and a manual controller. have 8 or 16 columns by 3 or 4 rows of pots and the pads to call up that column. Also allow a clock in to scan the columns in sequencer mode. I personally don't need polyphonic and pressure outs.

large variety of modules available across numerous manufacturers)
you'll see there's a severe lack of performance interfaces for these
systems! On numerous occasions over the years, I and many others have
brought this to the attention of the community but no one seems to be
listening. I think many people really want to interact with their
systems in other ways other than with sequencers and keyboards -
especially for performing artists. Dieter was once working on a touch
plate interface years ago, but unfortunately nothing ever became of
it. Maybe those of us that are interested in these performance
controllers are in the minority, but I've got to believe there's a
decent enough market to make it viable. Just my two cents.
Kindest regards,
John

i second a call for touchplates. tom's x4 module in the bugbrand system looks super promising - and i like the idea that you can build up more plates a bit at a time.

ps. nice one on progressing the M32s peter!
