M11

2007-12-02 by gabu_004

Hello,

So just a smal review of the M11.
Nice timbre and pretty dirty compared to the many other filters out there! Also I like the 2
simultaneous 6 and 12 dB output, can keep something quite fat still with some thinner and
interesting timbral modulations (hi-Q, small bandwidth). The twin feedback switch makes it
one of its kind really! Two resonnance peaks at the same time gives some interesting results
there.

Just one question for Peter now:

It says in the specs that it will self osciliate... So far I haven't achieved to do so, I've put to
max the Res and Bandwidth pots, played around with the freq, yes there's an output(12dB)
and the module is powered... Could it be that it doesn't self osciliate?

But except for the self osciliation expectation, I really love my new filter and recommend it to
everyody out there doing harder stuff...or whatever, everybody, no matter what hehehe!

Re: M11

We've shipped something like 36 of these guys and I have head comments
like this now twice. It's the vactrols, they are all all over the
place as far as response. There's an easy fix and I apologize this is
happening.

R51 is currently a 5.1K (that's green/brown/red bands). If you have
the means, change that to a 3.9K (orange/white/red). This will
compensate for the higher resistance of the vactrol that effects feedback.

R51 is easy to spot. It's about an inch behind the trim pot on the
bottom board, the one with the jacks soldered to it. It's sort of out
on it's own, not in a cluster with a lot of other components. If
you're nervous about removing the current one (5.1K), just cut it out
and solder the 3.9 K to it's pads on the bottom side of that board.

Thanks Peter :D

I'll fix that... well at least try hehehe!
Just two quick questions... yes other ones...

-Any idea if more M10 will be availlable this year?
-Did you get my email for Canadian dealership?

thanks again, I'll let you know if anything goes wrong in the little
operation there.

thanks again

PG: No. If your M11 self oscillates there's no need to do this.

I don't think a photo is nesessary - - it's really easy to find this part .I'll send another post with this info.

Is this for all the evil twins sold so far? Can you show us via photo
where on the PCB and what PCB to look at.

Re: M11 (actually, model 10 info)

Our supplier for the top three-way switch on the Model 10 currently
have those on backorder. We've got board sets built and waiting for
them to arrive. As soon as that happens (I believe it's next week -
sometime before mid-month for sure), then these will ship.

How about some of the other modules? At last count there were 2 of 14-ish modules available from Analogue Haven. (I'm particularly interested in the M28.)

Re: M11 (actually, model 10 info)

2007-12-03 by (i think you can figure that out)

We have another delivery coming tomorrow, possibly Wed at the lastest.
Model 15's. possibly others. We keep delivering and they all sell
very quickly, but I appreciate your concern - i am right there with you.

Here is the deal: We're pretty much land-locked. We've got to move
into a new facility because my livingroom is stuffed with three people
working in it and we don't have room for others.

I spoke awhile back about moving into a dedicated facility, and it
looks like this going to happen in January as there has been more
discussions recently from the individuals which were in on the deal.
When this happens, we'll have 700 square feet, and enough room for up
to five people. With Plan B in this facility will by JSX Audio, Rob
Harvey (repair tech), Backroom Entertainment ( a small recording
facility now in Glendale, CA), and the new M&K Sound - recently
resurfaced and under new ownership.

So two speaker manufacturers, a recording studio, an ace audio repair
person and a synth manufacturer all under one roof. All the makings
of first-class food fights.

Hopefully this will happen soon as we've got to get a bigger space here.

M14s

2007-12-04 by Brad Hawkins

Hi there,

I need a Model14. When do you think you'll be shipping more?

Re: M14s

2007-12-04 by (i think you can figure that out)

They should be popping up in the next couple of weeks. We're waiting for a rather large SSM2164 order to arrive (200 pieces, which was but a portion of a huge gang order placed by a group of us (Blacet, Modcan, Magic Smoke)). I had a notice on my door yesterday that a package delivery was attempted, I have a good feeling it was them.
