The Anouncement...

The Anouncement...

2008-01-22 by (i think you can figure that out)

All,

The Sonic State vid has not yet been posted, but in regards to the
teaser of the appending announcement made on the Analog Suicide video,
after a long discussion with my continuant Phil Gallo Saturday evening
we both agreed it would be best to hold off just a bit longer. The
Model 30 preview was omitted.

The reasons behind this are simple. The unit's functionality is not
yet finalized. Although a sample faceplate/control electronics
assembly has been made which Phil is currently working with (and I had
in my bag at the show), we've already determined a couple of better
ways to integrate some of it's features and have been discussing
others not on that prototype. So we thought it better to wait until
that was done. We've made arrangements for Analog Suicide to come over
to Plan B Ops and film it when these changes have been made and a new
faceplate is ordered. It shouldn't be too far off.

We made a commitment when we began the Model 30 three months ago not
to let Namm force an early completion. As the show began and because
it's further along than we thought we were both tempted, yet in the
end wisely decided to hold to our original plan. You'll all know more
about it in a few weeks.

This is what I can tell you now:

Many of the new modular synthesizer manufacturers have built upon and
expanded basic concepts which were introduced into modulars some 40
years ago. However, some of the basic operational tools have not seen
this sort of development and although improvements have been made in
recent years, they remain conceptually identical to what was state of
the art in 1968. The Model 30 focuses on one of these, and through the
use of 21st Century technology and methodology introduces an entirely
new way of approaching timbral design in modular synthesis.

Peter, thanks for the update. I know we're all anxious to see what
you're cooking up, but no sense rushing these things before they're
ready.

Do you have any rough idea when we might be seeing some of the other
modules, particularly the Wave Splicer? I'm also anxious to pick up a
Model 28, whenever those are back in stock. :)

We are building Model 28's right now. Five or so will be at AH this
week. A Matter of fact, Sam and I just now got back from All
Electronics where we picked up the 4.7v zeners for them!

On the ELF series:

There will be two, possibly three others coming (LFO, ASR and if we
can fit it in 4hp, an ADSR). These will be made together, production
starting in a couple of months. Before this we're releasing the Model 16.

After those, Milton.

After that, the Model 18 (big one).

The Model 30 will interrupt that release schedule whenever it's
completed. Whether it's in a month, three, whenever. As soon as
that's completed we will begin production immediately.

We are constantly building product for our dealers. Right now Model
14's, Model 29's and Model 28's are in assembly. These, along with a
SMALL QUANTITY OF MODEL 13'S THAT MAY ALREADY BE ACCOUNTED FOR are
being delivered to AH this week. After that we will be doing more
M13's, along with Model 11's and Model 15's again. After that, Model
10's and the balance of the M28 currently on order which we can't do
right now because the f'ing switches have been on back order from
their sole US distributor for a long while. We've got enough in stock
for 5 units currently.

its a bummer that i know you showed some people the model 30 at NAMM,
people who have only just got your stuff yet us die hards who have
bought your stuff from day dot are left in the dark

i just hope its a music easel :-)

i think i better find some other interests, because everyday i wake i
hit the internet to see what the news is and there isnt any...thank
the universe naked ladies are reliable :-)

I understand that this was a drag, but there are a few things in play
here and we have to be careful:

1) I've been (rightly) accused of putting vaporware into the universe.
If the unit doesn't show for three months, what's the use of adding
another to that pile?

2) What we're introducing may come under undue scrutiny from
individuals who (with all due respect) know enough to be dangerous,
but won't know enough about the particular application. Unfortunately
this usually never stops them from making judgmental comments.

3) Most important, we may be filing for a patent for part of this
technology and until we make that decision it's best to keep a tight lip.

If you're feeling in the dark I hear you totally, but please know that
light is coming soon!

Looking forward to the ASR, my synth needs a S+H but I'd rather have
the added outputs of the shift register, so I suppose I'll wait.

Can we expect stock on some of the other modules (particularly the
Model 13) over the next month or so?

You very deftly kept it out of my camera-sights! ;0)
