Model 30-what are the possibilities?

Model 30-what are the possibilities?

2008-04-23 by drexciyaecho

I'm still new to modular synthesis and wanted to see if someone could
explain more what the possibilities of the Model 30 are. It looks
great but I'm just not sure what all it can do. The new picture shows
a patch for a Frequency Shifter (which is one of the 2 things I was
hoping the Model 30 would be from the beginning, the second I hoped for
was a vocoder). Will it be able act as a freq. shifter? Also what
digital waveforms will be possible? If someone could enlighten me I
would really appreciate it. Thanks.

I can! I can!

No Vocorder. Freq Shifting, absolutely, but please realize only with
the internal VCOs. You will not be able to shift external VCO
signals. I don't see that as a limitation, only a qualification. The
benefit is the super-rich timbres had from sum only or difference only
sideband-free modulation possibilities. These are the things we
drooled over with the 200 at CalArts.

There are eight parent waveforms on the model 30. Six are the
classics, two are random-based and sound like something you'd expect
from the Blacet Miniwave. Very electronic sounding, very interesting.

The big thing though is the continually variable waveshaping. The waveform pot has no detents, you glide along and morph through the eight waveforms in a very unique way. A picture being with a thousand words, go here:

But also remember that while you will have many interesting
possibilities in these alone, once you kick in sync and begin
constructing complex timbres via the patches, it opens up a new realm.

None of this has been done before.

seems really great!
well done Peter.
