Beginners question

Hi

I have just bought the QuadtoneRIP. I have started using it on an Epson 7880 with the Epson K3 inkset. My paper of choice is rag type (Photo Rag or Museum Etching from Hahnemuhle or similar from Canson). Most of my work is from scanned b/w 6x7 or 8x10" film. I have settled on trying out split-tone with all the three curves. But the possible variations are endless and I would like som advice / previous posts on the following issues:

1. building your own set of curves, suggestions on where to start and how to be systematic
2. what to do if I do not find for example Museum Etching paper as an option
3. info on setting Ink limits, gamma and dither.

My first attempts show that I must increase the contrast consideably on the screen to get a very modest increase of contrast on print (Hahnemuhle Photo Rag 188). Must be doing something wrong.

Sorry for these questions, but I will have to start by diplaying ignorance to be able to learn using the QuadtoneRIP.
