Berel Thank you very much, I've switched back to Uni-directional printing and this streaking has gone. I'd started using Bi-directional to save time. I don't think it was to do with giving time to dry before hitting the "exit" roller as the streaks were in direction of paper travel. Maybe there was some sort of "buckling" happening at this point due to wetness? I always leave 30mm (1 1/4 inch) to avoid the microbanding at beginning and end of prints, this seems the most effective amount for image quality and using most of the paper. regards Ross --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, "Lutsky, Berel" <berel.lutsky@...> wrote: > > Sounds like it could be one of several or a combination of issues - first of all - Most of the smaller Epson Printers cannot do a good job of printing the first ½" and last ½" of any paper - there' s only one way to fix this and it involves altering expectations , streaking can be a paper problem in that it may be buckled or curled or otherwise not flat and causing head strikes, you may have a dirty or damaged transport roller, you might need to be sure that you are printing unidirectional (set this in QTR) which gives he ink more of a chance to dry before hitting the "exit" rollers, especially if you are using photo papers and the photopaper setting in QTR - that said Matte papers can be super saturated to the point of making the coating very delicate and easily damaged especially where it is darkest > > Berel Lutsky > Associate Professor of Art > UW Manitowoc > Office: 920 683 4735 > > > "If education is merely a "commodity" that enables individuals to tailor their learning so they can earn more, disastrous results should not surprise us.
