QTR-Quadtone RIP

This is pretty much right but I think some things are worth elaborating on:

Yes, in general when printing a target that you are going to measure you
want No Color Management.
This might be for either linearizing a curves or creating an ICC profile.

ICCs are always for a specific printing setup (driver and settings).  So
you need a color ICC
for printing with color Epson driver.  The ABW Epson driver is usually
without an ICC profile.
But both ABW and QTR can use a grayscale ICC made by QTR-Create-ICC for
more
control of screen-to-print matching.

With QTR you must always use a curve -- 1 or more.  Since the curves are
linearized you can
get good results with No Color Management as is.  But since the
linearization is the same for all
curves the generic ICCs do very well with any curve -- ought to be a little
closer in screen-print matching.
Finally a custom ICC can be made to take into account small variations in
your whole system and
this custom grayscale ICC would then be used.
