QTR-Print-Tool

2013-06-13 by Tim

Roy and Others,

I used the QTR-Print-Tool on a color managed Epson 9900. I performed a controlled print experiment with QTR and CS5. The image was an abstract painting taken with my Canon 5D Mark III. The two prints were printed on Epson Exhibition Canvas Satin and were identical except the QTR had a better rendition of the blue hue. Not only was it a better blue, but showed much more detail in the shadows. I used the same Epson ICC profile in both prints, as well as the other settings.

After seeing the results with my own eyes, I don't think I will use anything but the QTR-Print-Tool in the furture. Not only is the interface well designed, it is simple to use. Very nice work Roy. I really appreciate your product.

The only issue I had is when trying to print borderless on 36" canvas; but then again, CS5 wouldn't print borderless either. Maybe I should have slightly oversized the image to 36.25" and it might have printed borderless? But in any event it printed with an 1/8" margin which didn't bother me because I just trimmed the canvas.
