I've used a Colormunki Photo device to take the readings needed to create QTR curves, but that was a few years ago, and can't remember the details. There's a description of the process on the Northlight Images website ( http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/article_pages/bw_printing/bw_print_colormunki.html ) and a test page specifically designed for reading the 'black' densities with the ColourMunki (chevrons rather than rectangular boxes).
