Re: QuadTone Rip and small six channel Epson

Hi,

This will not answer your question, but maybe help in a way.

Printers may have different names in different countries, but work with the same driver (?).
It can be confusing.
In France, Epson's artisan 1430 is called 1500W, not R1430...!
But it works fine with QTR with this simple procedure:
I had to rename the Install1430=1400 script to Install1500=1400 to create a new printer and a new Quad1500 folder in the printers library.
Only renaming the script "Install 1500" didn't work.
Then Quad1500 printer appears in the System Preferences and printing dialog boxes.
I think it is important that the printer you "create" has the same reference as Espon's driver, but I might be wrong.
The Quad1430 didn't work with my 1500 printer.
That's for Mac, I can't tell about Windows.

Then, looking at the list of profiles in the QTR folder (see capture of my QTR 2.7.5 folder, I will try to post it!), more models are present that described in the QTR web page ( http://www.quadtonerip.com/html/QTRrequire.html ). 1430 or R300 for exemple.
So if one of them correspond with the model you want, even with a different name in Argentina, you should be able to use QTR with it.
It seems that the T50 in Argentina looks like the artisan 50 in the USA.
But I can't find a profile for it.
I hope someone will help you with that.

And one more thing. I think 1400 or 1430 printers are great machines, and probably their little sisters too (T50?).
They feature 1,5 pl dots and are designed for Claria dye inks.
I killed my 1400 printer using pigmented ink. Yes, it was cheap ink and my own dilutions as a beginner, so I might be responsible for this.
But if you plan to use pigments with 1,5 pl head, you may first ask specialists if it's safe.
I now use dilutions of Jon Cone's InkThrifts CL, for digital negatives purpose, without problem.
But this ink can fade...

Well this is my (happy) experience.
I'm not an expert! If anyone wants to correct this or add precisions, you're welcome.

Regards,

Stefan
