QTR profiles do not go in the same place as the ICCs. When originally installed, they'll be put (in Windows) in the following folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\QuadToneRIP\Profiles
Once you start to make and save profiles, Windows 7 will put them in the following folder:
C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\QuadToneRIP\Profiles
(Win 7 sets up this folder to keep viruses out of the \Program files folder.)
I set up shortcuts on my Desktop to access these folders. Windows Explorer will not get there easily otherwise.
A second folder will be set up for the Quadtone (*.quad) files. I mostly need to get into this folder only to delete quad files that are obsolete or otherwise not needed. When a *.qidf file is deleted in the \Profiles folder, it leaves the *.quad file in tact, and this ends up cluttering up the folder. When I go to select a "curve" in QTR, it's actually showing me the *.quad files, not the *.qidf files in the \Profiles folders.
Profiles must be opened and saved to generate the *.quad files that QTR actually uses. In Windows, use the Curve Creator to open profiles, and then just save them to generate the quad files.
The top and bottom banding is typical for the 1430 and QTR. It's a paper transport problem. Both paper rollers need to be engaged for good paper transport. As a practical matter, leave at least 1 inch of margin top and bottom.
Good luck with the system.

Hello all. I am new to QTR (as will be obvious: ) having purchased it about mid Nov. I have been reading a lot but still can't get any profiles (curves) to show up. I'm using a 1430 and the only profile is Claria 2880? I'm very happy with the tones in the print using this curve (I'm not sure weather to call them profiles or curves here, sorry) but am getting some nasty banding on bottom/top of print. There were a few curves downloaded w/ QTR and I also downloaded some from Paul Roark. I put them all in system32-spool-drivers-color as I usually do for icc's and per the read me file.
Thanks for any help!
