In light of the Aardenburg tests tending to show that the Epson P800 using Ultrachrome-HD inks is fairly clearly an improvement on the 3880 with Ultrachrome-K3 inks, does anyone know whether the HD inks could be used in the older printers designed for the K3 inks?
Obviously, you would need to create new profiles, but the new and old printers use the same number of inks having equivalent names (i.e. no special colours like blue or orange).
Using the new inks might be a way of reducing some of the weaknesses with using Epson colour inks for cooling or otherwise shifting the colour of pure-carbon prints.
