Thanks Kelly,
I've got a pile of old family black and whites, so I'm scanning at as high a resolution as I'm prepared to pay for storage. I just upgraded my computer and I'd have to say that the two greatest hardware upgrades for me was the video card, and an SSD. I can work on GB files with the SSD and not be slowed down, even with an i5 processor. However, I do have to flatten the images so QTR will read them. I'm just saving a second file for printing. If I need the space, I can delete the flattened images and re-flatten them if I ever need to print again.
Thanks again,
Larry

Larry It does have to do with file
size. I use Tony Kuiper's luminosity masks. If the
channels used in the production of the the masks are not
cleared after the mask is generated the file is very large.
Also accumulating a big pile of masks will slow thing down
considerably. Removing the channel's after it is used
will prevent this. I'm not sure if this is how you
process but that worked for me.
Best Kelly
