If you are a Windows user why aren't you printing with QTRGui? Convert your files to gray gamma 2.2 and then print.
If you are editing in PS in color first use Adobe1998 color space which uses gamma 2.2, then convert.

As for Andrew Rodney's vs Ctein's discussion if you use a color managed workflow for color printing then follow Rodney's suggestion.
