Re: [QuadtoneRIP] Centering a photograph in Print-Tool

2016-09-29 by Douglas Taylor

Hi Roy,

Think I’ve solved my problem with centering a photograph.

I’m printing from an iMac to an Epson 9800 using Print-Tool 1.1 and I’m printing with Application Managed and an icc profile I created with an i1.

I always got a centered photograph when choosing US Letter (Sheet) or US Letter. However I wanted to make a Custom Size and print on paper at 24” x 36”, so wanted to not have a centering problem and waste $. So I made a custom size at 8.5 x 11 and was not getting a center photograph? But I noticed in the Manage Custom Size dialogue box that the Non-Printable Area had no values for Left, Top, Right, or Bottom. So I deleted the 8.5x11 custom size and recreated and I guess the default Non-Printable Area values of .25, .25, .25, .56 ( left, top, right, bottom) appeared and now the photograph prints centered.

Thank You, Doug

I think it does center if you get the paper size right.

Ps. Details would help point to the problem.

Is there a way of ensuring a photograph is centered, left to right and top to bottom in Print-Tool for any paper size?
I know it has a Center on Paper Positioning button, but this doesn’t actually center the photograph once printed.
I don’t want to print with the photograph centered, but would like to know it is centered before making a little extra white space at the bottom.

Thanks for any suggestions, Doug Taylor
