File Extension Issue

2017-02-06 by bwg@...

Hello!

New QTR (Windows) user here - just purchased - and had a quick question (and had already typed up a message here), but just solved the problem myself and thought I'd share:

Apparently QTR doesn't like files with a .tiff extension, but instead prefers .tif (one f) ?! A file with a .tiff extension will preview fine, but won't print, while the same file with a .tif extension both previews and prints just fine.

FWIW, the errors I was receiving with the .tiff-extensioned files were:

ERROR: Unable to open image file for printing!

ERROR: No pages found!

I spent 2-3 hours today trying to sort out where the problem was, adjusting and tweaking tiff tags (the files I'm trying to print are created in custom software), comparing to working files, etc. [also known as pulling my hair out], and it turns out it was just the file extension the whole time.

Might want to look into this bug (presumably it's not a feature), and/or mention this somewhere in the documentation so others will be saved the frustration I just experienced.

Other than this issue, I'm really liking QTR. To those involved in its creation: kudos, thanks for all of your hard work and for what seems to be a great product, generally. Hopefully I can give back to the community eventually.

Best,

Brian
