It is probably a Photoshop bug or undocumented feature.
I was playing yesterday with the utilities QTR-Create-ICC.exe and QTR-Create-ICC-RGB.exe to generate ICC profiles embedding an ACV linearization curve. I didn't bother too much for the measurement filename - SPR3000-EpsArchMat-ABW-neutre-fonce-EricChan-embedded.txt is quite long but meaningful to me.
I generated both ICC profiles (gray and rgb) and installed them.
When I opened an image in Photoshop (CC 2018) in Gray Gamma 2.2 and wanted to assign the newly created gray profile, it did not show up in the list of available profiles.While for an RGB image the QTR_SPR3000-EpsArchMat-ABW-neutre-fonce-EricChan-embedded was available from the droplist.
I closed and reopened multiple times Photoshop without any improvement until I shortened the measurement filename and regenerated the ICC. Kudos! the gray profile appeared in the list.
Anyone with an idea to explain the Photoshop behavior (low priority since it's solved)?
