The main install -- Install-QTR-2.7.8.pkg goes through the whole password sequence
so it can fix all the permissions.
The printer install -- Install3880.command for instance is just a script without extra
permission capability -- so may give an error.
Sometimes in creating new files or folders the system gives less permission than asked
for so subsequently you get the permission error.
Yes, it's weird but just re-running the main install will get you working again.

David, where are you trying to run the install script, Library/Printers or Applications/Profiles? I am still trying to stumble my way through QTR. I am able to run the install in Applications/Profiles but not Library/Printers.
