I have fixed this problem: I installed the OEM Epson software & updated the driver. (I'd been trying to use the default Win 10 driver which I think was the cause of the error.)

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
